Charles advises on property and commercial law, guiding clients through real estate and business transactions from structuring and due diligence to completion. He has particular experience in complex, high-value acquisitions and disposals of property and businesses, property development, commercial and retail leasing, and project finance and security arrangements.
He also advises on corporate and commercial matters, including shareholder, employment, consultancy, licence and service agreements, and share and asset sales. His succession planning work includes wills, enduring powers of attorney, enduring powers of guardianship, and broader estate and business succession strategies.
Charles draws on his previous litigation experience when drafting and reviewing agreements. Having seen how contractual disputes arise and are resolved, he focuses on identifying ambiguity, enforceability issues and other risks early. He works closely with clients to develop practical solutions that support their commercial objectives while protecting their interests.
Charles is admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and several Southeast Asian dialects, enabling him to assist clients from diverse cultural and business backgrounds.
